This is a poster design presenting the work of typeface designer Zuzana Licko. After doing some research into her life and design career, I decided to base my poster on the typeface Mrs Eaves. This typeface, which she created for Emigre Graphics, was one of her most popular.
I wanted to keep the aesthetic of the poster simple, with a '90s feel. I kept going back and forth between different shapes and colors but I knew I wanted to incorporate different pops of color throughout the poster, similar to the artwork within the magazine Emigre. I ultimately decided to make the background light gray and place colorful letters and numbers on the left side of the poster. I found this to be a good way to balance positive and negative space in the final design.
